Greenwich boys, girls tracksters fare well at Loucks Games

Despite the hot and humid day, the Greenwich High School boys and girls track and field teams fared well during the Loucks Games held at White Plains High School.

The Greenwich High girls 4×800-meter relay team of Mia Bonanno, Tori McMachan, Daryl Kennedy and Jenny Goggin took home the gold to pace Big Red with a time of 9:48.80. The team was in fifth place after the second leg, when a huge performance by Kennedy moved the team up to the top spot. Kennedy’s time of 2:24 was the fastest she’s ever run.

Goggin kept the momentum of Kennedy’s performance by running her personal best time of 2:20. She also widened the gap on the silver medal team, as they finished in 9:56.

Also performing well was the girls 4×400-meter relay. The team of Caroline Markowitz, Treloara Harrisson, Caroline Frey, and Goggin finished the event with an eighth place time of 4:09.96.

Not to be outdone was the Greenwich High boys 4×800-meter relay, as the foursome of Spencer Helmrich, Sebastian Oe, Andy Kates and Mark Jarombek finished in 11th place overall, netting a time of 8:25.82.
