Sacred Heart lacrosse beats Millbrook School 7-6 in final seconds

Trailing Millbrook School late, the Convent of the Sacred Heart lacrosse team tied the game 6-6 with three minutes to play and scored the game-winner with 11 seconds left in regulation.

With less than six minutes to play in the contest and the Tigers trailing, Sacred Heart was able to get the ball back from Millbrook’s stall attempt and capitalized on the play, as Haley Horn found the back of the net with 2:39 left to tie the game.

Again Millbrook had control of the game, but Sacred Heart was able to gain possession of the ball with time running down. That’s when Horn struck again, as she scored off a free position with 10.9 seconds to play.

In addition to Horn’s two goals, she also finished with two assists. Not to be outdone was Alice Millerchip, as she finished with two goals and one assist. Meg Gerli, Charlie Clark and Colleen O’Neill finished with one goal apiece. Despite only netting one goal, O’Neill finished with six groundballs to help CSH stay in the contest.

For Millbrook, Aiden Woolford led the way with three goals.

In net, Sacred Heart’s Amanda Crowell was stellar and finished with eight saves. As a team, the Tigers had 14 shots on net.
