Greenwich residents can dispose of hazardous waste

For those doing some spring cleaning in their homes, this Saturday offers the perfect chance to safely dispose of any hazardous waste they might have.

The town is holding its annual Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, May 10, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Greenwich High School.

No commercial loads will be permitted but residents can bring in pesticides, oil-based paints, solvents, kerosene, pool chemicals, mothballs, drain cleaners and other toxic materials to be safely handled. People are not permitted to bring in latex paint or motor oil though.

A complete list of what can be brought is available online at Greenwichct.org/recycle or you can call the town’s Department of Public Works at 203-869-6910 or Environmental Health at 203-622-7838 for more information.
