Camp program seeks donations

The Greenwich Campership Program, coordinated by the Greenwich Department of Social Services, is in full swing with sessions scheduled to begin later this month. But funds are still needed.

Camp scholarships have already been awarded to 220 Greenwich children whose parents meet the financial criteria. They will attend one of several day camps in town which participate in the department’s program, as well as two sleep away camps in Connecticut. However there are still currently 47 children on the waiting list, hoping to attend camp.

The majority of parents need camp as a source of child care so that they can hold down their jobs during the summer months.

Scholarships are funded by donations from concerned citizens, corporations, and other groups in the community; with the entire amount used for camp fees. If you would like to participate in this program, you can make a tax deductible check out to the Greenwich Campership Fund and send to the Department of Social Services at 101 Field Point Road, Greenwich CT 06830.

Any contribution is welcome. You can also be a camper sponsor; $350 for a 2 week session or $475 for a three week session.
