The media is letting us down by not telling the right stories

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

The Sunday morning news shows hardly mentioned the 44th anniversary of the Kent State Killings. I wonder how our country would be if the 60’s had been different and Vietnam and the Kennedys and King assassinations had not happened.

CNN ran an hour program on Kent State, showing the rage and insanity that was the time. But I’m told that this is all yesterday and it’s so long ago, especially in regards to my reports on Jane Fonda with ideas for correcting celebrity bad examples.

You had to live through the Vietnam era to know how this crazy time has now mutated our present. The power the media developed hurts our country. I know we must look at where we are and make strong changes. Our future survival hinges on somebody starting change so more ethical compassionate citizens can work towards bettering our society and the world.

The media should be reporting all the news including individual efforts and not screening what suits publishing policy.

The Vietnam era magnified all American wrongs with ferocious reporting, to overkill excess by the media.

The press will reject stories for closed attitudes they developed through years of growing stronger with their unchecked, biased reporting. It’s not reporting sincere citizens efforts, especially those who expend huge effort to contribute to society. Instead they’re telling these citizens their ideas to help are futile.

We all lose when the media doesn’t let the public know about many who try to contribute. These excesses are especially harmful, because such reporting or lack of helps in damaging our country since the demise of JFK’s Camelot. Are these damages insurmountable?

The United States had greatness after WWII and perhaps would today if the 60’s had been different. We would be doing more to help the world, with our strength of purpose being greater. We do so much for the world but without the Vietnam era that tour our country apart I think much greater action would of happened.

For a start Bush Senior would have stopped the Serbs in Croatia & Bosnia, Clinton would have helped Rwanda and in Nigeria.
