On July 13 – Greenwich Hospital to help children’s health ‘Under the Stars’

Greenwich Hospital is inviting the community to try and make a difference in children’s health while enjoying a summer evening event at “Under the Stars” on Friday, July 13 at Riverside Yacht Club.

Proceeds from “Under the Stars” will benefit the Pediatric Department and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Greenwich Hospital. Greenwich residents Mini Nunna, Jessica Reardon and Deborah Wood are chairing this casual dinner dance that features live, silent and wine auctions. The festivities are scheduled to run from 7 to 11:30 p.m. Town resident Bill Evans, from WABC’s Eyewitness News, will lead the live auction and radio personality Mark Simone will be master of ceremonies.

Dr. Annette Bond, Director of Perinatology at Greenwich Hospital will be honored at the event for her skills and compassion guiding women with high-risk pregnancies for the past dozen years.

“The hospital is a wonderful resource that touches all of us, whether you gave birth there, visited the Emergency Department with a child, or know someone whose baby was in the NICU,” said Ms. Nunna, whose second child was born in Greenwich Hospital.

For Ms. Wood, a neonatal nurse at Greenwich Hospital whose own twins spent a week in the NICU, honoring Dr. Bond holds special meaning.

“I couldn’t have physically or mentally made it through my pregnancy without Dr. Bond. She held my hand the entire time,” she said.

Greenwich Hospital’s NICU provides round-the-clock care to newborns who need specialized medical attention. As a level III NICU, infants are monitored by dedicated and compassionate neonatologists, specially trained neonatal nurses and neonatal nurse practitioners using the most advanced technology. The NICU Family Room offers parents respite while staying close to their babies in the NICU.
