Greenwich boys tennis blasts St. Joseph High School, 6-1

The Greenwich High School boys tennis team upped its regular season record to 8-1 on the season with a a 6-1 victory over St. Joseph High School earlier today.

Big Red dominated the first three singles matches. At No. 1 singles was Chris Salisbury and he beat St. Joe’s Kenji Hasakewa 6-0, 6-0. Axel Hebrand finished off the Cadet’s Kourin Pisacrita 6-0, 6-1, while Greenwich’s Jacob Cohen got past Devin Griffen 6-0, 6-1.

The fourth and fifth matches in singles competition were awarded to Big Red by default.

In doubles, the No. 2 doubles team of Pato Houson and Brian Jordan came away with the 6-0, 6-0 victory over the St. Joseph team of Sam Zelef and Shivam Patel.

The Cadets picked up its lone victory at No. 1 doubles, as the duo of Gary Joseph and Palin Patel upset Greenwich’s Grant Want and Alex Collins 6-4, 0-6, 7-4.

Greenwich will be back in action Monday when they travel to Fairfield and take on Fairfield Warde High School.
