Business planning, financial management talk at Greenwich Library

The Peterson Business Services Center at Greenwich Library has two great workshops planned for May. Visiting experts from Fairfield County SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) will give a lecture on developing a business plan, and another on the importance of financial management tools.

Greenwich Library Business Librarians are available to help navigate the library’s extensive databases, directories, investor information and nonprofit resources via email or in person. On Wednesday, May 7 from 6 to 8 p.m., it will be How to Develop a Business Plan in 6 Easy Steps.

A business plan is an essential road map for business success, but few small businesses ever complete a plan due to over-complicated approaches that entail too much theory, writing and detail. This workshop will teach pragmatic, straightforward tools for setting goals, developing action plans, measuring progress, and adjusting accordingly. The workshop will take place in the Meeting Room.

Then on Wednesday, May 14 from 6 to 8 p.m., it will be Financial Management Tools for Small Business.

SCORE Select will present a workshop examining how business owners can use financial statements to more effectively run their businesses in the Greenwich Library Meeting Room. The following topics will be covered: a review of the profit and loss statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement; how the three financial statements work together; common problems in maintaining these statements; financial ratios — how they can be used to optimize business performance; examples of using financial statements.

For more information, contact [email protected] or call 203-831-0065. The workshop will take place near the Bloomberg Terminals. Patrons can sign up to use the Bloomberg Professional Service computer at the Main Reference Desk or sign up in advance by calling 203-622-7910.
