Greenwich Academy golf remains perfect with 4-1 win over RCDS

The Greenwich Academy golf team started the week in grand fashion by crushing Fairchester Athletic Association foe Rye Country Day School 4-1 earlier today at the Apawamis Club in Rye.

No. 1 golfer for Greenwich Academy, Susana Vik, started things off by beating Rye’s Summer Kitahara 5 & 4. Not to be outdone was Hope Matthews at No. 3, as the GA golfer upended Jasmine Kitahara 3 & 2. Jessica Yavvabucci finished off Rye’s Emily Gorin 4 & 3.

Rounding out the scoring for Greenwich Academy was Ellie Garland, as the No. 5 golfer beat Rye’s Mackenzie Martin 2 & 1.

Rye Country Day School’s lone victory came from their No. 2 golfer, as Kate Weiss bested Rachel Oates 4 & 3.

Highlights for the Gators were when Yaccobucci rolled in a 25-foot par putt on the third hole en route to her 4 & 3 victory. In addition, Garland closed out the scoring for GA with her 2 & 1 victory on the eighth hole.

With the victory, GA upped its record to 9-0 on the season. Greenwich Academy will be back in action Wednesday afternoon when they battle FAA foe and cross-town rival Convent of the Sacred Heart at the Fairview Country Club.
