Greenwich High boys tennis takes care of the Warriors 6-1

The Greenwich High School boys tennis team had little trouble when it came to Wilton High School on Thursday afternoon, coming away with the 6-1 victory.

Big Red got four wins in singles and swept the doubles. At No. 2 singles, Dickon Hollister defeated Connor King of Wilton 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, while Greenwich’s No. 3 singles player Marcos Eslava finished off Wilton’s Ian Erickson 6-1, 6-1.

At No. 4 singles, Axel Hebrand finished off Wilton’s Ned Culmane 7-6 (2)- 7-5 while Jacob Choen won No. 5 singles for GHS with a hard-fought 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over Wilton’s Germit Gaccard.

Competing at No. 1 doubles was the GHS duo of Shaw Speer and Louis McKenzie, as they had little trouble with Wilton’s Ale Lord and Jordan Lord 7-6 (1), 6-3. Not to be outdone was the Cardinals’ team of Tyler Dagnino and Max Minichetti, as the beat Timmy Sullinor and Nocholas Fiol 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.

Greenwich’s lone loss on the day happened at No. 1 singles, as Wilton’s Noah Farrell upended Greenwich’s Ari Cepelewicz 6-2, 7-5.

With the victory, Greenwich improved to a perfect 6-0 and will be back in action Monday when they travel to Stamford for a game against Westhill High School.
