Teen Center has helped Greenwich farmers’ market thrive

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

On behalf of the Greenwich Farmers’ Market, I would like to thank the board of directors and the staff of the Arch Street Teen Center for making their facilities available to us, making it possible to organize a winter market.

Our farmers and customers alike regret when the market closes for the season in November. Closing means that the personal bonds that have been formed between farmers and customers would no longer be renewed every Saturday.

Many of our farmers still have products to sell after November and the income from doing so would help them through the lean winter months. And, our customers want continued access to the local farm products that have become important to them.

As a result, there have been calls for a year-round market. As this year’s harsh winter has demonstrated, an indoor location was a necessity. Our search for a suitable location led us to the Teen Center. Their generous support offering the use of their facility has allowed us to better serve the Greenwich community.

The Greenwich Farmers’ Market is sponsored by the town of Greenwich Department of Parks and Recreation. For further information, you can visit us at our website: Greenwichfarmersmarketct.com.
