Greenwich Academy golf blanks Miss Porter’s, Hotchkiss

The snow melted just in time for the Greenwich Academy golf team to take two victories against NEPSAC opponents Hotchkiss School and Miss Porter’s at the Round Hill Country Club.

Greenwich Academy’s top golfer on the day, Rachel Oates, took care of Hotchkiss School’s Holland Finn 2 up and also defeated Simi Olofinaboba 5 & 3. At No. 2, GA’s Hope Matthews defeated Charlotte Scott of Hotchkiss 5 & 4. She also defeated Miss Porter’s Lizzie Robins 5 & 3.

The Gators kept the good times rolling at No. 3, as Caroline Zhao beat Viola Lee of Hotchkiss 4 & 3. Zhao also took care of Miss Porter’s Amelia Roberts 4 & 3. At No. 4 was GA’s Jessica Yacobucci, as she upended Hotchkiss School’s McKenna Ingerson 3 & 1 and also beat Miss Porter’s Jesse Claflin 5 & 3.

Rounding out the scoring was Gators’ Ellie Garland. She first took care of Hotchkiss School’s Audrey Koh 5 & 3 and also Miss Porter’s Isa Zamarripa 5 & 4.

The Gators upped its record to 5-0 and will head to Old Oaks Country Club in Purchase, N.Y. next Tuesday to face Riverdale.
