Greenwich officers receive MADD awards

Two local policemen received awards at the 26th Law Enforcement Recognition Ceremony held in New Haven.

Greenwich Police Officers James Ruszkowski and Robert Smurlo were recognized for their commitment and contributions to eliminate drunk driving in Greenwich by the Connecticut chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). The mission of MADD, according to its website, is to “Stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking.”

The law enforcement ceremony honors officers from the state who have been leaders in their departments in the fight against drunk driving. The Greenwich Police Department said both Officers Ruszkowski and Smurlo excel in the field.
