Scope out beautiful kitchens townwide and get some design inspiration at the 15th Annual Old Greenwich-Riverside Community Center (OGRCC) Kitchen Tour on Wednesday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In the annual fundraising event, roughly 10 private residences in Old Greenwich and Riverside will be open to visitors. In addition, a buffet luncheon will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Floren Family Environmental Center at the Innis Arden Cottage on Greenwich Point.

The Kitchen Tour benefits the OGRCC Scholarship Fund, and this year, Gina Gould, CEO of the OGRCC, is hoping to raise $100,000. Proceeds from the tour’s luncheon will be dedicated to ongoing maintenance of the Floren Family Environmental Center, which welcomes close to 30,000 visitors each year.

“Exploring the range of functionality and design elements in various kitchens is very appealing to people. Even if they’re not planning anything more than a new appliance purchase, folks welcome the opportunity to chat with kitchen hosts, designers, homeowners and fellow kitchen enthusiasts,” said Ms. Gould, in a press release.

To mark this milestone year, the OGRCC has introduced a new element, a virtual Kitchen Tour Guide named Ginger. Ginger is an avatar that has been “blogging” about the Kitchen Tour and kitchen design on the OGRCC website. Ms. Gould notes that Ginger is helping to get the word out about this year’s Kitchen Tour. Upcoming blog post topics include sponsors of the event, Kitchen Tour venues, the luncheon menu, and other plans for the day.

There are a variety of fun highlights to the fund-raiser, from a limited edition apron for sale, and a raffle with prizes ranging from an annual family museum membership to table linens and place settings from a local retailer. Riverside Garden Club is designing the floral arrangements for the luncheon and guests will be treated to a raw bar courtesy of the Greenwich Shellfish Commission and Atlantic Clam Bar, all of which will take place against the musical backdrop of a string quartet.

This year, the Kitchen Tour has four sponsors: WheelockMaidique, Kitchen Design and Cabinetry, and Cook & Craft, and media sponsors, Moffly Media and the Greenwich Post, who will feature details and articles about the upcoming tour.

Tickets are $65 for the Kitchen Tour and $35 for the luncheon. Sponsorship ad placements in the Kitchen Tour program are still available.
