Greenwich native and Columbus Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson has said that playing in the National Hockey League has been a dream come true. However now the dream officially gets even better.

With the Blue Jackets’ 3-1 victory over the Dallas Stars, Columbus is guaranteed a spot in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. This is the first time in Atkinson’s young NHL career that he will be playing for Lord Stanley’s Cup.

So far this season Atkinson has 20 goal and 19 assists and has scored five game-winning goals. He last netted a point on April 6, when the Blue Jackets hosted the New York Islanders and picked up an assist.

With two games to play for Columbus, they currently sit in the seventh spot and would play the second-seeded Pittsburgh Penguins in the opening round of the Eastern Conference playoffs if the season ended today.
