Greenwich High softball outlasts Wilton to start season 1-0

The offense was firing on all cylinders early and often for the Greenwich High School softball team, as they took care of Wilton High School 12-7 earlier today at the GHS softball field.

Big Red scored one run in the first inning, six runs in the second inning and five in the fifth inning to secure the victory.

Rebecca Decarlo started her senior season in grand fashion, as the captain went 2-for-3 on the day with a grand slam homer and added five runs batted in. Not to be outdone was fellow senior captain Erin Ferguson, who finished 1-for-4, but made the most out of her lone hit by blasting a home run.

With the victory, the Lady Cardinals improved to 1-0 on the season and will be back in action Friday when they travel to New Canaan High School f0r a game at 4 p.m.
