Sacred Heart lax outlasts Hamden Hall, 12-11

The Convent of the Sacred Heart lacrosse team grabbed an early 7-4 halftime lead and was able to hold on to the slim 12-11 victory.

“I am happy that we pulled out with a win, but we need to work on coming out strong in the second half and not forcing it and taking better shots on offense,” Sacred Heart head coach Courtney DePeter said. “We dominated on the draw, but then would lose the ball on settled attack and it would result in a goal scored against us.”

Leading the way for the Tigers was Katie Miller, who finished with four goals. Emma Novick added three goals, while Haley Horn, Mo Leitner, Kate Larkin and Charlie Clark each finished with one goal. Horn also led the way for CSH with four assists.

Sara Bennett was the high scorer for Hamden Hall, as she finished with five goals and one assist. Olivia Scholz added three goals and one assist.

In net, Sacred Heart was paced by Amanda Crowell, who finished with seven saves. As a team CSH fired off 28 shots on net.

With the victory, the Tigers improved to 3-1 on the season, while Hamden Hall fell to 1-2.
