Greenwich Academy softball falls to Hopkins to start season, 5-2

Despite scoring twice in the fifth inning, the Greenwich Academy softball team wasn’t able to overcome Hopkins’ three-run first inning and committing four errors in the first two frames, as the Gators fell 5-2 yesterday afternoon.

Tyla Taylor went 2-for-3 on the day with an RBI double and also had two stellar catches defensively at first base. No to be outdone was Katie Tenefrancia, who went 1-for-3 with an RBI and also make key plays in her debut as the team’s catcher.

Third baseman Erika Kraus also finished 2-for-3 on the day.

With the loss, Greenwich Academy fell to 0-1 on the season.
