Greenwich Department of Health holds Lyme Talk tonight

Learn how to protect yourself from Lyme disease at the next installment of the Lyme Talks series tonight, April 3 at 7 p.m.

Doug Serafin, MS MPH, Director of the Town of Greenwich Department of Health Laboratory, will be discussing the Town’s tick testing program and the latest trends in infection rates for Lyme and Babesia.

The tick testing program is available to all residents, and currently offers testing for Lyme and Babesia. Mr. Serafin, who developed the program, holds master’s degrees in microbiology from Quinnipiac College in 1995 and in public health from Southern Connecticut State University.

The talk will be followed by a regular support group session moderated by Angela LaManna, MSW, LCSW, a Lyme-literate therapist who recognizes the special needs of people suffering from chronic illness due to tick-borne diseases.

Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month in Town Hall’s Gisburne Room. Town Hall is located at 101 Field Point Road.
