Classic literature series offered at CSH

A new literature series will begin at the Convent of the Sacred Heart on April 8.

The Aloysia Hardey Lectures, a program for adults sponsored by Convent of the Sacred Heart, guest speaker Victoria Allen will offer three programs on English literature. The series will be held April 8, 15 and 22 at 10:30 a.m.

On April 8, the lecture will treat the influence of politics in the writing of Shakespeare’s Richard III and in Macbeth. The program on April 15 will deal with Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice as a reflection of English society. A discussion about Charles Dickens and David Copperfield will conclude the series on April 22 as the focus will be on the novel as a reflection of the author’s life and the times in which he lived.

The programs begin at 10:30 a.m. and conclude at noon with refreshments served afterwards. Parking is available in front of the school. The cost is $55 for all three programs or $20 each per program.
