Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol to honor Camillo

State. Rep. Fred Camillo (R-151) will be honored at the Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol’s first annual fund-raiser on Saturday, April 5 at Greenwich Country Day School.

At the benefit, Mr. Camillo will receive the inaugural Chief’s Award for his hard work and dedication to the Fire Police community. In the past year, his efforts on both state and local levels, helped pass the Fire Police Bill, legislation that would make it an infraction for not obeying traffic signals given by fire police officers.

Additionally, in 2010, Mr. Camillo was  instrumental in helping the Fire Indemnification Bill be signed into law. This law protects volunteer firemen and ambulance service from liability in the course of their duties protecting the public and added Fire Police Patrol Officers to the list of those to be protected and indemnified.

The fund-raiser promises to be a fun-filled night, complete with dinner, dancing, and live and silent auctions. The event is expected to draw hundreds of guests from Greenwich and surrounding towns. OnTheMarc Catering will be providing food and guests will also be treated to full open bar and a selection of wine and beer.

U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), a Greenwich resident, is expected to attend.

This event marks the first fundraiser for the Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol, an all-volunteer, non for profit organization dedicated to protecting Greenwich residents since 1927. The patrol provides a broad spectrum of services to residents and first responders including firefighting, salvage operations, traffic and scene control at emergencies.

As one of the few nationwide organizations remaining specializing in salvage work, the Patrol trains its members to protect valuable personal property that could otherwise be destroyed due to fire, water or smoke damage. The patrol serves the entire town of Greenwich and last year responded to more than 1,000 emergency calls.

Tickets are only sold in advance, with numerous levels of support: Chief Level at $5,000 for 10 tickets to the event, Captain Level at $2,500 for six tickets to the event, Lieutenant Level at $1,000 for four tickets to the event, Sergeant Level at $350 for two tickets to the event, Patrolman at $125 and First Responder at $75 (a copy of valid department ID must accompany First Responder level RSVPs).
