Town of Greenwich crowns 2014 men’s basketball league champions


The Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreations Department recently finished up its adult men’s basketball league and three teams got to hoist a trophy.

Above, Greenwich Country Day School took the West Division Champions. In the photo from left is Patrick Currym Tim Helstein, Mike McGovern, Zachary Wright and Adam Rohdie. After going 7-3 in the regular season, they started the playofffs with a victory against Richman Capital and continued the good times by beating S&S. In the championship game, the GCDS Tigers upended Greenwich Knicks II.


In the middle of three photos, the First Reverse won the men’s basketball consolation tournament. First Reserve finished the regular season 4-6 and after getting a bye to the second round, First Reserve picked up a win against Ellington Management and then beat AQR Capital in the championship game. In the photo from left are Yuri Larrabee, John Black, Zach Dauber and Jeff Meng.


Not to be outdone was THI, above, as they were able to finish the regular season 9-1 overall and cruise to the Eastern Division championship. They started the postseason with a easy 71-31 victory over Chasers and advanced to the semifinals, where they got by Touch of Grey 53-48. In the championship game, THI was in a close game against Interactive Brokers, but came away with the hard-fought 79-77 victory. In the photo from left is coach James Truitt, Paul Hill Jr., Driton Xhema, Didier Clermont, Drew Gladston, Wessmore Maitland, Dave Reggina, Dan Hickman and Libiot Gjini.
