The Greenwich Recreation Division holds camp open house

Learn about Greenwich Recreation Division’s many summer camp offerings at an open house on Tuesday, April 1, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center.

There’s options for kids of all ages and interests, from sports, adventure trips, cultural experiences, beach days, arts & crafts, music, swimming, and more. At the open house, visitors are encouraged to ask questions, compare programs and pricing, and register their kids for summer camp.

Kamp Kairphree, a co-ed day camp for ages five through 12, will again operate at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center and Greenwich Point.  There are four two-week sessions beginning June 23. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Transportation is provided from various sites around town. Kamp Kairphree features swimming, boating, arts and crafts, games, sports and one special event per session.

The Recreation Division is excited to announce a new action and adventure day camp, Greenwich Adventurers. This program is specifically designed for groups between the ages of eight and 15 years old and runs from 9 a.m. through 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The summer is split into two sessions, totaling seven weeks.

Organized by age and interest, the camp will include one special field trip for each age group per week, local beach days at Greenwich Point and Island Beach, and on-site activities at the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center.  Transportation is included for all trips and beach days. Trip locations will include EMPOWER Adventure Center, The Bronx Zoo, Lake Compounce, Quassy Amusement Park, Splashdown Water Park, Adventure Park at the Discovery Museum, the New York Mets at Citi Field and Ripley’s Museum, to name a few.

For kids interested in art or music, there’s also a Music & Art Camp. Located at Central Middle School, the program runs from late June through early August, Monday through Friday. The Music Program is open to children grades four through eight with at least one year of study with a musical instrument and runs from 9 a.m. until noon.  The Art Section has both morning and afternoon options and also runs Monday through Friday. There will be a concert and art show held at the end of Camp and there is time scheduled for other activities as well.

For skateboard enthusiasts, Greenwich Recreation also offers Ramp Camp and Pee-Wee Clinics at the Greenwich Skatepark. Ramp Camp provides skateboarders with games, new tricks, and the opportunity to skate. Ramp Camp is for youth between the ages of six and 14. Sessions are the weeks of: June 23 – 26, June 30 – July , July 7 – 10, and Aug. 1 – 21. Ramp Camp runs from 9 a.m. until noon, Monday through Thursday. The Pee-Wee Clinics for ages six to 10 are offered in the evenings, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. These weekly clinics will meet the weeks of July 14 – 17, July 21 – 24, July 28 – 31, August 4 – 7, and August 11 – 14. Both skatepark programs have built-in rain dates on Fridays.
