Greenwich Women’s Golf Club to open 48th season April 10

The Greenwich Women’s Golf Club ( GWGC) will open its 48th season at the Griffith E. Harris Golf Course on Thursday, April 10.

Interested golfers should attend the evening meeting at 6 p.m. in the Fairways Restaurant. President Kaisa Newhams will present information about this year’s programs and explain the weekly schedule of tournament play.

This annual kick-off meeting provides an opportunity to meet other enthusiastic golfers, sign up for membership and schedule a full season golf.

Tee times for GWGC are on Thursday mornings. Members may sign up for the weekly 18-hole tournaments including our Swing Fore Hope Fund-raiser held on Aug. 15, which raises money for local charitable organizations.

A special provision exists for working women or those who have other scheduling conflicts.  Members can play the weekly tournament with another member Wednesdays through Mondays.

Members of the Greenwich Women’s Gold Club can be any women over the age of 18 and does not need to live in Greenwich, provided they can score 125 or less. The tournament season concludes with an awards banquet at the end of October. Last year’s season winners were 18-Holer Club Champ Heidi Nolte; Runner-up Hsiao-Lien Boardman and Most Improved was 18-Holer Jo Chiappetta.

For information concerning membership or the April 10 meeting, contact Amanda Oliva at 203-637-3655 or [email protected]. Season play begins on April 17 with the opening day scramble.
