The Greenwich High School boys basketball team will be in action tonight and a big crowd is expected to pack 10 Hillside Road.

At 7 p.m., the Cardinals, seeded fourth in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference tournament will host No. 5 seed New Britain High School in quarterfinals action.

Don’t forget to check the Greenwich Post twitter feed (@greenwichpost) for updates throughout the game. If you want to hear the contest live, check back on Greenwich-post.com at 6:50 p.m. for live coverage from Hersam Acorn Radio.

Greenwich (22-3 overall) started the tournament with a convincing 49-40 victory over Shelton High School, but had quite the scare from fellow FCIAC foe Wilton High School. The Warriors hit a baseline three in the final seconds to send the game to overtime, but Big Red prevailed with the 67-61 victory.

New Britain is no stranger to the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference. The Golden Hurricanes started play in the class LL postseason with a over Danbury High School 72-59. In the second round, New Britain took care of Brien McMahon High School, 83-74.

With the victory, the winner will advance to Wednesday’s CIAC class LL semifinal game, which will be played at a location to be determined. The championship game is slated to be played at the Mohegan Sun Arena either Saturday or Sunday.
