Bacon joins Sons of the American Revolution

American history is kept alive by the efforts of organizations such as the Sons of American Revolution (SAR).

The Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution recently announced that Old Greenwich resident Jason Bacon became a new member of the group’s Matthew Mead Branch.

Mr. Bacon is a direct descendent of Thomas Sumner, a soldier who fought in the American Revolutionary War.

Mr. Bacon joins the group of volunteers, who are banded together by their similar lineage of ancestors who supported the Patriot cause during the War for Independence.

Connecticut SAR was organized on April 2, 1889 as a membership organization whose fundamental purposes are patriotic, educational, and historical.

An all-volunteer organization, the Connecticut SAR has dedicated itself to serving as a guardian and interpreter of history.
