Stanwich has new learning center on horizon

As of September 2014, Stanwich School will be launching an educational program for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten.

In honor of the historic estate’s original name, Wildwood Farm, the new learning center will be called the Wildwood Cottage.

The school said in a press release that Wildwood Cottage will provide a nurturing environment within a challenging elementary educational program that will take full advantage of the environmental resources right outside of Stanwich School’s doors.

“As an administrator, and as a Stanwich Pre-K parent, I am very excited about the program we are creating for our youngest students at Wildwood Cottage,” said Meaghan Mallin, head of Lower School and parent of a Stanwich Pre-K student. “It will be a robust continuation of the exemplary approach Stanwich’s Lower School is known for, while affording us the fortuity to explore new opportunities.”

In the fall of 2013, Stanwich announced that it will be relocating its Upper School Campus from Stamford to its 40 acre Greenwich campus for the 2014-2015 school year, making Stanwich School the only Pre-K through grade 12 coeducational independent school in Greenwich.

As part of this next step in the school’s growth, Wildwood Cottage will be located next door to Stanwich’s educational buildings in a 5,000 square foot space at St. Agnes Church.

Stanwich is now accepting applications for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten children ages three and-a-half and older. For more information or to RSVP for the Wildwood Cottage event, visit Stanwichschool.org.
