It’s time for a magic carpet ride at Central Middle School’s production of Disney’s Aladdin Jr.

The Central Middle School Theater Arts Program will celebrate its 35th year with this production on Friday, March 21, and Saturday, March 22.  Directed by Erin Schilling and produced by Bonnie Hann and Kira Seabolt, they are promising “a fast-paced, entertaining show” featuring 70 members of the school’s eighth grade in the cast and crew.

The show will be choreographed by Maria Kelley Stevens of Greenwich Has Got Talent and features Broadway-style dance numbers for the whole family over the course of the one and a half hour-long run time.

The show includes all the famous songs from Disney’s Academy Award winning Aladdin movie to go with its fun, timeless story. Instead of falling in love with a prince, young Princess Jasmine falls in love with Aladdin, a mischievous, fun-loving rogue who finds a magic lamp.

“This is the one production we’ve done where everyone in the cast already knew the music before rehearsals even started,” said Ms. Schilling, a music teacher at both Central Middle School and Greenwich High School.

The kids have been rehearsing since January despite some delays brought about by snow days and they are ready for the curtain to rise starting Friday night.

Both performances start at 7 p.m. All tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door just prior to show time or during lunch time at CMS from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Central Middle School is located at 9 Indian Rock Lane.
