The senior class of 2014 at Greenwich High School has already distinguished itself academically and athletically, but last weekend it proved there was another area it could dazzle in … the stage.

It was the annual Standing Room Only show at GHS last weekend and the show, more commonly known by the acronym SRO, was the place to be in town as parents, faculty and administration got to see the performances the students have been laboring on for months. There was music and comedy as well as original skits throughout the night as the show was held over three nights last week from Thursday to Saturday.

The show is student performed and run by the senior class and is a beloved tradition at GHS. The ongoing MISA project was a major topic of discussion in the show with several sketches poking fun at the expense, the disruption and the impact the project has had on student parking at school. But there was also time for students showing off their musical, dancing and singing skills.

GHS Headmaster Christopher Winters even got in on the fun as one of the sketches gently mocked the “top 10” lists he is famous for including in his speeches by listing the “top 10 things that annoy Dr. Winters.” The Board of Education was also on the list of targets and this spoof was one close to home as the SRO included Elisa Martinez, daughter of board member Adriana Ospina, and Eric and Travis Anderson, the sons of former board Chairman Steve Anderson.

Post photographer John Ferris Robben, whose daughter Bailey was also among the student performers, was on the scene for the event and there will be more photos of his online Monday at Greenwich-post.com.
