Camp registration open at Greenwich Historical Society

Snow may be on the ground, but it’s not too early to start planning summer fun for the kids.

The Greenwich Historical Society’s History and Art Camp will be offering first- through seventh-graders a highly interactive summer experience with a wide variety of activities connected to the town’s local history. The camp uses National Historic Landmark Bush-Holley Site and its collections and archives.

In the first week, campers will be immersed in the life of New England colonists during the American Revolution, while the second week explores the Cos Cob art colony and its relationship to Impressionist artwork inspired by the local landscape. Each week includes a field trip and a family reception to showcase what campers have learned and created.

The camp is staffed by experienced educators and counselors and special activities are led by professional artists and historical reenactors.

Sessions for Senior Historians, grades fourth to seventh, will take place July 7 to 11 and July 14 to 18 and sessions for Junior Historians, in grades first to third, will be held July 21 to 25 and July 28 to Aug. 1. Campers may opt for single-week sessions. Camp hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Until March 15, priority registration is available for members and last year’s campers, which guarantees last year’s tuition rate: $550 for a two-week session and $350 for a single week. After March 15, general tuition is $700 for a two-week session and $450 for a single week. Deadline for all registration is June 15.
