Piano recital to Typhoon Haiyan relief

Internationally acclaimed pianist Maestro Pierluigi Sampietro will be donating his time and talent at a recital hosted by First Congregational Church on Sunday, March 2 at 3 p.m.

The event is presented by the Connecticut Association of Filipino American Families (CAFAF Inc), with all funds raised to be dedicated to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, and specifically the residents of heavily-impacted city Tacloban.

On Nov. 8, 2013, Tacloban was among the worst hit areas of the Philippines.

Today, three months after the storm, Tacloban’s heavily decimated population is valiantly seeking to rebuild along with the rest of the nation.

Early last December when Maestro Pierluigi Sampietro heard of the devastation in the Philippines, he decided he would give a concert for charity. At the recital, he will be playing the works of J.S. Bach, Scarlatti, Mozart, and Chopin, followed by popular songs, on

There is a $20 suggested tax deductible donation to CAFAF, Inc.

All proceeds will go directly to typhoon victims. First Congregational Church is located at 108 Sound Beach Avenue. Refreshments will be served.
