Sacred Heart basketball advances to FAA finals Monday night

The Convent of the Sacred Heart basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Fairchester Athletic Association by blitzing Rye Country Day School, 64-41 earlier today at the CSH gymnasium.

Colleen O’Neill led the way with 24 points and added seven assists, Emily O’Sullivan added 19 points, but dominated the boards by leading the way with 24 rebounds. Not to be outdone was Claire O’Neill, who pitched in with 15 points and six rebounds. Shelby Holland finished with nine points and 10 rebounds.

“The girls really impressed me today with their execution, effort and teamwork,” CSH head coach Sean Green said. “I went from feeling truly anxious to utter enjoyment. Their spacing poise an execution of offense was phenomenal. And RCDS are no slouches. They are really well coached and played their heart’s out every time they take the floor. Hopefully our girls bring that same poise into the finals versus Hamden Hall.”

With the victory, the Tigers improve to 17-4 overall and will face Hamden Hall Country Day School in the FAA finals Monday at 5:30 p.m.
