Friends of Autistic People founder attends Family Hearing Day

Greenwich was well represented at this year’s Family Hearing Day at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

Friends of Autistic People (FAP) founder and president, Brita Darany von Regensburg attended the hearing on Feb. 7, where she spoke about the FAP’s mission to advocate for service for everyone on the autism spectrum.

At the hearing, organized by the Intellectual/Developmental Disability Caucus of Connecticut, parents and support organizations are invited to talk and submit written testimony about the needs of those with disabilities.

The emotional testimonies by several parents about their concerns of what will happen to their children had several legislators indicated that they were deeply moved by what they heard.

In her testimony, Ms. Darany von Regensburg, a Greenwich resident, requested the legislators to find ways to provide autism services and housing for those with profound autism and job opportunities for the high functioning individuals with autism.
