Meet author Marianne Szegedy-Maszák at Round Hill Community Church on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m.

Ms. Szegedy-Maszák has written I Kiss Your Hands Many Times: Hearts, Souls, and Wars in Hungary, a book that tells the story of her family in pre- and post-World War II Europe.

It records the struggles that shaped her family for years to come. Arto Szabo, who also lived through this time and experienced similar challenges, will lead a discussion of the book.

Framed by a cache of letters written between 1940 and 1947, Szegedy-Maszák’s family memoir tells the story, at once intimate and epic, of the complicated relationship Hungary had with its Jewish population — the moments of glorious humanism that stood apart from its history of anti-Semitism — and with the rest of the world.

In the book, she resurrects a lost world of splendor and carefully portrays the moral struggles that history exacted from both a country and its individuals.

Round Hill Community Church is located at 395 Round Hill Road. Admission is free. RSVP at 203-869-1091 or visit Roundhillcommunitychurch.org.
