Greenwich schools closed on Tuesday due to snow

Greenwich students will see their winter recess extended for another day as schools will be closed on Tuesday due to expected snowfall.

While there were only light flurries falling early Tuesday morning, the decision was made to close schools. Brunswick School, Greenwich Academy , Stanwich School and Convent of the Sacred Heart will also be closed as the snow is expected to make the morning commute a real mess. Greenwich lucked out last week when heavy snow hit as the Greenwich Public Schools were closed for winter break but today, as much as the rest of Southwestern Connecticut is on break, Greenwich will be closed. This means that Greenwich has now used up the allotted number of snow days in the calendar and if there are any more, days will have to be added back onto the district calendar, likely at the end of the school year, in order to meet the state requirement for the number of days students must be in class.

Snowfall is expected to be considerably lighter than it has been in other recent storms with snow turning into rain. However it could turn into a messy commute for people going to work on Tuesday.
