The Greenwich High School wrestling team upped its overall record to 16-5 on the season by blasting Norwalk High School yesterday afternoon 71-3 in the GHS gymnasium.

Heavyweight Chris Fischer got the ball rolling for Big Red, as he started the match by scoring a 9-2 decision over Norwalk’s Doug Knowles.

Up next was lightweight Brandon Aguda and he was able to get a 17-1 technical fall victory over Jonathan Albrecht.

In a grueling match at 113, Greenwich’s Alex Margeotes scored a 2-1 decision over Norwalk’s Luke Schwartz and in the same type of match during the 120-pound weight class, Norwalk’s Robert Lewis Zimmerman came away with the only points for the Bears in a 8-6 decision.

From there it was all Greenwich, as Mike Ceci (126), James Duffy (132), Connor Weigold (138), Jack Stevens (145), Jack Freiheit (152), Matan Blechman (160) and Justin Montier (170) each scored pinfall victories. Duffy took care of his opponent by netting the pinfall 43 seconds into the match, while teammate Weigold finished off his opponent 49 seconds into the match.

Stevens, Freiheit and Belchman each earned their pinfall victory by stopped their Norwalk opponent will less than 40 seconds to play in their respective matches.

The Cardinals rounded out its scoring by Thomas Williams (182), Mark Nielsen (195) and Erik Menchaca (220) each won by forfeit.

Up next for Greenwich High School will be tomorrow when the team travels up to Danbury High School for the Danbury Multi.
