Blake wins Greenwich Cook Your Buns Run

Eric Blake of New Britain was the winner out of a large field of 423 total finishers in the main race at the recent Whole Foods Cook Your Buns Run & BBQ at Tod’s Point.

Blake, 33, covered the three-mile cross-country course in 15:56 to win by 18 seconds over runner-up Mike Dugan, 15.

Elias Hubbard, 18, of Stamford placed third with a 16:27 and was the Open Women champion. Jeffrey Eades (16:33) was fourth and Stamford’s Jeff Watson (16:46) took fifth.

Andrew Jarombek, 17, of Riverside placed sixth with a 16:54 and Greenwich’s Spencer Helmrich, 16, was seventh with a 16:55. Shelton’s George Buchanan (17:00) placed eighth, Darien’s Jeff Zarrilli (17:12) was ninth and Old Greenwich 14-year-old Christopher Fenaroli (17:57) rounded out the top 10.

Erin Wilson of Old Greenwich was the runner-up female and 23rd overall with a 19:22. Ridgefield’s Teren Block was the third female and 25th overall with a 19:36.

The other Greenwich residents who placed among the top 25 were Sebastian Oe (12th, 17:58), Mike Horgan (13th, 18:03), Owen West (14th, 18:13), Louis Csak (15th, 18:17), Jimmy Agresta (16th, 18:27), Bruce Semer (19th, 18:47), Ashley Honey (20th, 18:51), Ken Clisham (21st, 18:57) and Mark Wolpers (22nd, 19:29).

There was also an accompanying one-mile kids’ race that was won by Greenwich’s Ryan Lynch, 12, who had a time of 6:35. Evan Wood, 10, of Riverside was runner-up with a 6:50, while Chris Dunn, 11, of Greenwich placed third with a 6:54.

The Cook Your Buns & BBQ was the fourth event in the Volvo of Stamford Greenwich Cup series of 10 events. The next event is the one-mile Greenwich Point Swim at 7:30 a.m. on July 14. For more information on future events of the series, visit or call the shop at (203) 661-0142.
