Sacred Heart beats Chase Collegiate, 47-40

The Convent of the Sacred Heart basketball team continued its winning way earlier today, upending Chase Collegiate, 47-40.

A back-and-forth game throughout the first half and part of the second, the Tigers were finally able to pull away with nine minutes to play. Sacred Heart went on a 10-0 run, courtesy of Claire O’Neill’s back-to-back three-pointers.

Overall, O’Neill finished with 11 points and two rebounds, while Emily O’Sullivan added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Colleen O’Neill finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

“This Chase team is very feisty and they have some young talent that will be very good in years to come,” Sacred Heart head coach Sean Green said. “Overall I was pleased with the way my team competed today. Our captain, Colleen O’Neill, is giving a lot of herself by trying to create easy scoring opportunities for her teammates and I think she’s doing an amazing job.”

With the victory, the Tigers improved to 11-4 overall and will be back in action Tuesday afternoon when they host School of the Holy Child.
