Whitby School holds free parenting workshop Jan. 24

Whitby School will hold a free parenting workshop today, Jan. 24, for parents of children 18 months to six-years-old.

The worskshop, which will be held at the school at 969 Lake Avenue, will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and is called How to Raise and Nurture a Confident, Self-Reliant and Independent Child.

According to the school, the workshop is designed to give parents insight as to why the early years of a child’s life are such a formative time for their cognitive development. Whitby’s Montessori and IB trained early childhood educators Melina Marshall, Anna Caro and Dana Finocchio will share tips on how to help children build confidence, independence, motivation and self-reliance.

An open discussion will follow and people can RSVP for this workshop at Whitbyschool.org/paprsvp

Upcoming workshops will be held on Friday, February 14, from 1 to 2:30 on Supporting Early Literacy and on Friday, February 28, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Supporting Early Numeracy.
