Fruit & Vegetable Challenge to begin

Kids are always being urged to eat their fruits and vegetables and at North Mianus School this will again be a big part of the curriculum.

The school’s annual Fruit and Vegetables Challenge Week is set to begin on Monday, Jan. 27 and last through Friday, Jan. 31 at the elementary school. This is a full week of class time dedicated to making sure kids at the school learn about good nutritional habits and healthy eating and that they see the importance of taking those habits for themselves and making them a part of their daily lives. According to the school, everyday there will be a variety of fruits and vegetables for the kids to eat thanks to a partnership with Stop & Shop, who will again be a major sponsor for the event.

And each day of the week kids will be challenged to eat healthy as there will be a theme. On Monday it will be “red day” encouraging kids to eat red fruits and vegetables. On Tuesday it will be orange day. Then Wednesday will be yellow day with Thursday being taken up by green and purple day. Then on Friday, Jan. 31, all these lessons will be brought together for rainbow day where kids will have their choice of all different fruits and vegetables and they will be encouraged to take these lessons about healthy living home with them.
