Police continue stabbing investigation

UPDATED MONDAY 6 PM — Police are continuing to investigate the alleged stabbing of an elderly woman on Sunday.

The woman, a town resident, has not been officially identified yet by the department. She reportedly was the victim of a stabbing on Milbank Avenue Sunday evening. The woman was transported to the Stamford Hospital emergency room for non-life threatening injuries, police said, and she was admitted for further evaluation.

According to police, officers responded to the report of a woman bleeding at the end of a driveway near the roadway at approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the woman had suffered a number of lacerations to both an arm and a leg.

Police reportedly took immediate action to prevent injury to others, surrounding the property in the event that a dangerous person was still on the loose. Public Information Officer Lt. Kraig Gray has said there is not believed to be any ongoing threat to the community.

Based upon interviews at the scene, it was determined that all parties relevant to the incident were accounted for. Detectives were called to the site and assumed the investigation.

The police department is actively investigating the exact circumstances regarding how the woman was injured. More information will be released when the investigation is done, according to Lt. Gray.
