André Henri Banette, 85, Air Force veteran, devoted family man

Obit-Banette-1-16André Henri Banette, 85, of Ridgefield and formerly of Greenwich, died Jan. 8.

The husband of Janine Yvette Banette and the son of Hervé and Marguerite Banette, Mr. Banette was born in Bordeaux, France, on May 24, 1928. He attended schools in France and served in the French Military following World War II. He and his wife immigrated to the United States in 1953 settling in Greenwich, where they raised their son.

A resident of Greenwich for 35 years, he relocated to Danbury where he resided for four years until moving to Ridgefield in 2005. Mr. Banette was a cargo agent for Air France for 35 years before retiring in 1991.

In addition to his wife of 66 years, Mr. Banette is survived by a son, Philippe Banette and his wife, Donna, their daughter Sophie and a sister, Gilberte Lhote of Bordeaux, France. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Ridgefield with the Rev. Dr. Charles Hambrick-Stowe officiating.

The family will receive visitors in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street., Ridgefield on Friday, Jan. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m.
