General Assembly

Fifth graders at the International School at Dundee (ISD) took a guided tour of the United Nations, including the General Assembly and Security Council last month. The visit reinforced the students’ International Baccalaureate unit “Power in Numbers,” which explores how beliefs shape the way we see ourselves and the ways in which we give back to our community.

The trip to the UN also raised awareness of several global issues that have an impact on children across the globe, resulting in fifth graders pledging to use freerice.com, a free vocabulary-building website, which donates rice to the World Food Programme to help end hunger
