Greenwich Academy swim team falls to Hopkins, 96-84

The Greenwich Academy swim team was neck-in-neck with Hopkins School until the final event of the day during Wednesday afternoon in their swim meet.

However, Hopkins was able to win the 400-yard freestyle relay and stretch out its six-point lead, beating the Gators 96-84 at the Greenwich YMCA pool.

For Greenwich Academy, Hannah Subramaniam was the leader, as she grabbed first place in two events. During the 200-yard individual medley, Subramaniam touched the wall first overall with a time of 2:22.95. Three events later, she was back in the pool competing in the 100-yard butterfly and again grabbed the gold with a time of 1:02.31.

Quinn Scannell was the overall winner in the 200-yard freestyle event, finishing with a time of 1:54.77. Not to be outdone was Kitty Arenz in the longest event of the day, the 500-yard freestyle. Arenz took first overall, posting a time of 5:22.97.

Competing in the diving portion of the program, Lizzie Fitzpatrick was able to capture the victory.

The Gators will be back in action Monday when they travel to Hackley School for a meet that gets underway at 4:15 p.m.
