Sacred Heart basketball back from break, dominates Hopkins 72-30

The Convent of the Sacred Heart basketball team started 2014 in grand fashion earlier today in New Haven, as they blasted Hopkins School, 72-30.

Leading by nine points at the half, the Tigers exploded in the second half, outscoring Hopkins 43-10 and cruised to the easy victory.

Colleen O’Neill was solid for Sacred Heart, scoring 22 points on the day. She added five rebounds, four blocks and four steals. Not to be outdone was Emily O’Sullivan, who finished with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Claire O’Neill also turned in a strong effort, finishing with 11 points and two reboudns.

Rounding out the scoring for the Tigers was Grace Passannante, who added six points, five rebounds and two blocked shots.

With the victory, Sacred Heart improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Fairchester Athletic Association.
