OGRCC Thunder strike gold

The Old Greenwich Civic Center’s U-9 Thunder baseball team took to the field for competition in the sixth annual Tuckahoe Youth Association Memorial Day Tournament and came away with the gold medal. The boys played terrific baseball throughout the weekend, with key pitching efforts by Auggie Bancroft, Hunter Clark, Matthew Jester, Jack Hutchins, Harrison Azrak, Declan Long and Daniel Perez. OGRCC was able to come away with the championship due to defensive gems made by all. In addition to the defense, the Thunder’s hitting and base running by all. Matthew Jester launched a solo homer in the championship game, while Evan Caulfield smacked three RBI’s in semifinal round over host team TYA, 5-3. Declan Long also pitched in during the finals, unloading a three-run home run.Winning pitchers in championship was Jester, who then gave the ball to reliever Bancroft.
