Stuck tractor trailer shuts down Merritt at Lake Avenue

FI-PoliceA tractor trailer attempting to take the Lake Avenue exit off of the Merritt Parkway became stuck around 1  p.m. Friday afternoon, creating traffic delays, according to Greenwich Police Public Information Officer Lt. Kraig Gray.

The incident has stopped all exit and entrance at the Lake Avenue exit on the northbound side of the Merritt Parkway. Police are urging all residents to avoid the area until further notice. State police were en route to the scene around 1:40 p.m. and a nearby Greenwich officer was on scene attempting to alleviate traffic, Lt. Gray said.

The Merritt Parkway prohibits vehicles more than eight feet in height, weighing more than four tons, towing a trailer, or containing more than four wheels from using the parkway.
