Youth speaks out against texting while driving

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

I believe that laws against texting while driving should be more strictly enforced.

I believe this because texting while driving is a major killer among teenage and young adult drivers. I am a Boy Scout and Scouts want everyone to be safe on the road. Around Greenwich, I see many drivers texting while at red lights and that can be dangerous enough, but I also see it all too frequently in moving cars, which is even more dangerous. It only takes two seconds to look at a text and while you’re driving 30 to 45 mph, taking two seconds is long enough to do a lot of damage.

The rules that prohibit texting while driving should be more strictly enforced because doing so will make our community safer.
