Polar Bear Plunge and 5K set for New Year’s Day

Start 2014 off with a splash by participating in the Second Annual Old Greenwich Polar Bear Plunge and Run to benefit Kids in Crisis, taking place on New Year’s Day at Tod’s Point.

Following on the heels of last year’s highly successful  event, the plunge is back, but with a twist — now participants can ring in the new year by running in a 5k race as well. The race is the only New Year’s Day race in lower Fairfield County.

The fun family 5K run and walk through Tod’s Point will take place at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Polar Bear Plunge into the Sound at noon. All proceeds from the day will go to Kids in Crisis, the only organization of its kind providing free, round-the-clock crisis counseling and temporary shelter for infants, children and teens.

Admission to the 5k run/walk is $20 for adults and for children 17 and under is $10. Admission to the plunge is free, but a donation is kindly suggested. Visit Kidsincrisis.org to register.
