Art Ahoy!

DSC0007Docking right into Greenwich Harbor to make it a very artistic holiday weekend, SeaFair made quite the impact last week.

The 228-megayacht, part of Art Greenwich’s return to town after a successful fall show, docked right up along the Delamar Hotel for an exhibition that lasted from Thursday through Monday and allowed people coming aboard to check out more than 25 international galleries featuring art in all media, including sculpture, paintings, photography and video. These galleries included modern masters like Marc Chagall, Joan Miro and Francis Bacon as well as other famous names like Jasper Johns, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Louise Nevelson, running the gamut of all media and forms of artistic expression. Even works by legends like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein were on display, including Warhol sketches from the 1950’s during his career in advertising.

The floating art gallery has been a major success in Greenwich each time it’s come through town and after a launch party Thursday night, the rest of the weekend featured people from all over the tri-state area coming through to see what was on board. People coming aboard the yacht got to see not only all the artwork and special features but also see a simulcast of Saturday’s Greenwich Town Party, which was right nearby in Roger Sherman Baldwin Park.
